The room was lovely and warm. I was on a room only basis. The only negative was they didn't clean my room on the second day and when I mentioned this at the front desk was told I had to request this. I was never informed of this on check in and they apologised.

The Trouville can offer a decently priced stay in the centre of Bournemouth, less than 10 minutes walk from the pier and from the main shopping streets. Rooms can be a little old fashioned but the bed and pillows were more comfortable than the other hotels in this price range that I've used in Bournemouth recently. It's on a steep hill, with its car park just down the hill, but there is a lift connecting the hotel and car park.Onsite Car Parking is pricy (£12 a day), but some booking deals include free parking; others include discounted breakfast - so it can pay to shop around. (I booked on a site with half priced breakfast for three people; but had to pay the full car parking fee).Breakfast was OK; cooked dishes are prepared in the kitchen, not buffet style - generally they come quickly, unless you want the vegetarian sausages (not recommended, more like potato rissoles!). There was sliced white of granary bread for toast; only marmalade or blackcurrant jam as spreads; two types of yoghurt (and single unspecified type of milk). There's a tiny gym area (3 machines, all for arms - nothing to pedal - outside the small by pleasant pool area. If you're a serious swimmer then don't go to the Trouville (there are other similarly priced options, where the hotel may be a little more decrepit, but the pool is larger)

You get what you pay for with this hotel.Pros: Rooms are clean and spacious, location is great with lots of food places and activities around. Hotel is cheap which is great, cheapest hotel in Bournemouth. The bar was nice and open 24/7.Cons: hotel is very outdated. Floors creek in the room, TV didn’t work, lights in the room flickered nonstop. We complained the first day about the TV not working as we were staying 5 nights and the receptionist said someone would be up the next day to fix it but nobody showed up. The male receptionist was extremely rude and again never did anything to fix what we requested. Room service didn’t come AT ALL while we were here, we had to use the same towel repeatedly and even had to ask for simple things like more toilet paper since room service didn’t come. The kettle in the room was disgusting and the plumbing in the bathroom was horrible and smelled. Heating was cranked on high and the room was constantly hot. Wall paper was peeling off in some areas.Overall, for the price it’s an OK stay, not the best but not the absolute worse. Cleanliness is the most important thing and the room was very clean and large.

FAQs
Is Expedia trustworthy for hotels? ›
You might be cautious of go-betweens or third-party booking sites, but Expedia is a legitimate, well-known online travel agency that's been around for years.
Does Expedia have hidden fees? ›What kinds of fees does Expedia charge? Expedia itself doesn't charge fees for booking accommodations, unless you violate their terms of booking. For example, you may be charged cancellation fees if you cancel your accommodations outside of the standard 24-hour window.
How much does Expedia charge? ›So hoteliers are far more inclined to sell rooms to Expedia because some money is better than no money. The commission fees are usually between 20% and 25%.
How does Expedia work with hotels? ›Here's how it works: When a guest books a room through Expedia, the reservation is automatically transmitted through our two-way interface to your Check-Inn hotel software. Your real-time room inventory is constantly updated to help reduce the chance of overbooking.
Why is Expedia so much cheaper? ›In many cases, Expedia can offer flight tickets cheaper than the airlines. Because third-party services often get a bulk discount, they can sell their flight deals for less than the average ticket prices.
Is it better to book through Expedia or booking? ›And while customer service is no doubt better with larger OTAs like Expedia, they're still acting as a middle man. That can slow things down when things have gone wrong and you need a solution fast. If you want the best customer service possible in case of an issue, it's better to book directly with the airline.
How do I get the lowest price on Expedia? ›To take advantage of this, make sure to check out the “Daily Deals” on Expedia's website. These flights and hotels book about a week in advance, so it's a spontaneous plan, but they are often as much as 40% off the original price! With these exceptional deals, you can travel the world without breaking the bank.

Is it easy to cancel with Expedia? ›What is the Expedia cancellation policy for hosts? Expedia boasts a 24-hour free cancelation policy across its site for users. Within this timeframe, guests can cancel or change reservations without any fees or penalties.
Is it better to book directly with the hotel? ›Reality is, hotels tend to offer the best rate when guests book directly with them. Because of this, when you book directly with a hotel, prices are final and free of hidden fees.
What days are best to book hotels? ›The best day of the week to book your hotel at the lowest rate is Monday for domestic travel and Tuesday for international travel, according to travel site Expedia.
Do Expedia prices go down during the week? ›The booking platform also says Sunday is the best day of the week to purchase your airfare. According to Expedia data, travelers who buy their tickets on Sunday save 5% on domestic flights and as much as 15% on international flights on average compared to typical Friday prices.

That's because hotels give priority to reservations made directly with them since they didn't have to pay a commission fee.
Is it cheaper to call hotel directly? ›Advantages of Booking a Hotel Directly
